Event Information

When is race day?

Race day is Saturday 1st June 2019 – Both events start at 11.00am.

Where is it?

Chillington Hall, Port Lane, Brewood, Staffordshire, WV8 1RE.

Am I able to park?

We have arranged plenty of car parking for participants and this is included in your entry fee.

Are there any changing facilities?

You’ll need to arrive ready to race as there are no showers / changing rooms on site, only toilets.

Where are the toilets?

Right near the start area, we have also increased the number from last year to minimise queues.

Are these events timed?

Yes, we are using one of the most accurate chip timing systems available today. This doesn’t mean you have to be a competitive racing snake to enter, simply everyone will have their time recorded no matter how leisurely you want to get round.

What about spectators?

Friends and family are encouraged to come along and there are no additional spectator / parking fees. The start and finish are in the same place and allows them to wave you off and cheer you back in without having to move, but there’s always the lovely grounds to explore a good viewing point for the more adventurous.

What are the routes like?

The routes are as close to the usual 13.1 miles and 10K distances as we can get them, but sometimes can be slightly over due to the changing annual forestry and boundary changes. Both follow the many trails and paths through the beautiful and varied Chillington Estate. Terrain includes grass, fields, mud and gravel. You start near the grand house and go up and down the main driveway, before leading off around the beautiful woodland and lake (ensure you read ‘loop information’ in the email receipt you get on sign up if you’re doing the half marathon!) There is a short bit on tarmac near the start and finish area to maximise space for runners to spread out. No killer hills, but some definite uphills with uneven ground in places so trail shoes are recommended. Please stick to the signposted route which follows clear, well defined paths and trails. Marshals will be at various points around the course and another will follow the last runner to ensure everyone gets round safely. All entrants are expected to be reasonably fit and able to run / jog most of the route without getting into difficulty. There will be 4 water stops along the route at approx 3.5, 6.5, 8.25 and 11 miles for the half marathon, and 1 approx halfway for the 10K

**Please note that this is private land & the Giffard family home, you are only allowed access to the route / grounds on race day**

Although marshalled, you are expected to be able to run, be responsible for your own safety around the course, especially when crossing the small lane at the entrance to Chillington Hall. You need to be aware of traffic so we kindly ask you not to wear head phones etc until you have crossed this small lane.

When do I get my race number & timing chip?

You collect these from registration (at the race start area) on race morning, this opens at 09.00am. Please arrive in plenty of time to get yours which will be listed alphabetically (surnames) at the collection point. We will have safety pins available but won’t complain if you bring your own!

How much are entries & can I enter on the day?

Half Marathon:

Online entries in advance are £25.50 (this includes all admin & processing fees, you WILL NOT be charged any more at checkout!)

Should there be limited places left, they will be sold at £35 each on the day, cash only. (min age for entries is 16yrs).

10K:

Online entries in advance are £17.00 (this includes all admin & processing fees, you WILL NOT be charged any more at checkout!)

Should there be limited places left, they will be sold at £25 each on the day, cash only. (min age for entries is 16yrs).

Will there be first aid available?

Yes, but you should be relatively fit and have no known medical conditions which would hinder your run or cause the race organiser concern. All abilities are encouraged and welcomed at our races, but as this is NOT a walking event you are still expected to be able to comfortably run/jog most the route, no matter how slow (except the hills of course, everyone walks these!) First aid support will be present on the day. You are reminded not to run if you feel ill or have a cold or flu on race day as this can be extremely dangerous. Do not take part if you have any respiratory illness or recent medical condition.

Race Rules, Cancellation & Transfer Policy:

All entries are non-refundable. The staging of events have to be booked and paid for many months in advance.

We are however pleased to offer a transfer service. We can swap your race place to a friend, relative, team mate etc, but you must handle any reimbursment of funds directly with that person – WE ONLY SWAP THE RUNNERS ENTRY DETAILS OVER.

This transfer service is not compatible with strangers off the race waiting list, nor can any entries be deferred to next years race / any other event / or between the different events on the day.

*To transfer your place – Although a simple process, this can ONLY be done on race day morning at the registration area.

There is a £1 admin fee payable in cash. You do not need attend, but your replacement MUST arrive at registration BEFORE 10AM and once signed in, we shall complete the transfer.

**If it becomes apparent to the sweep runners that you are in difficulty, ill, or are only able to finish by walking the remainder of the route, then you are likely to be asked to retire from the race, remove your race number and make your way back to the start area your own risk. This may sound harsh but it is for your own safety. No refund will be given under these circumstances.

By entering these events you agree to abide by all of the above rules and conditions as well as the disclaimers via the online sign up process. Entry to tour Chillington House is not included within the race entry, separate charges apply.

**Final race info & instructions are emailed to runners on sign up**
