SUMMARY:Ashbourne Seesaw Sunday March 5th 2023
DESCRIPTION:Starting and finishing in Ashbourne Leisure Centre car park\, the race is an out-and-back route along the Tissington Trail. Enjoy the stunning scenery & abundance of wildlife.\n\nTurn points are set up along the route at 2.5k\, 5k\, 5mile & 6.55 miles. Waterstations will be along the route. \nThe route isn’t flat as your outward section is a very gradual incline\, but for every uphill there is a downhill! The 2nd half of your race is all set on a gradual decline which should feel fantastic once the legs have warmed up & you can get those feet flying! \nThe 5k run / walk is for all levels. This event can be a gentle stroll with the family or a race to get your 5km PB. \nThe ground has a hard surface. It is firm & even in most places – The Tissington Trail is open to the public & there may be walkers & cyclists & horse riders using the trail. \nCar parking – there will be NO car parking available at Ashbourne Leisure Centre as the finish line & race village are held in the car park. Please use a public car park in Ashbourne. There are limited free parking spaces (max 4 hours) at Halfords just a few minutes walk away at Waterside Retail Park\, Ashbourne\, DE6 1DG. Please car share to save our environment. \nWe welcome Canicross Runners on 5k &10k – water stations will be provided to dogs regularly out on course & at Race Village. Your dog will need to wear a running harness & be used to running with you. Remember they need to train too! Don’t expect your dog to run a distance just because you can! Please clean up after your dog & keep on a lead at all times. Please book on in the correct distance (5k/10k) & use the Canicross category. \nThe 5k & 10k Canicross races will start early at 08:30am & run before everyone else ensuring there aren’t any dogs running on the course at the same time as other athletes. We feel that the trail is not wide enough to accommodate 2-way runners with Canicross runners at the same time. When dogs are running they can sometimes be unpredictable with sudden stopping or a change of direction & this can cause issues if there are lots of runners around them or over taking. Unfortunately\, this does mean that we have had to withdraw the 10mile Canicross option from this event (still available at Grimsthorpe Gallop & Thoresby 10). \nPlease join us for the 08:30am Canicross option – with 5k& 10k options it’s still a race you can enjoy! \nThere will be waves of athletes to avoid congestion on the trail. These times may be subject to change. \n\n5k & 10k Canicross – 8.30\n10mile – 09:45\n10k – 10:00\nHalf marathon – 10:10\n5k – 10:20\n\nThe usual SBR Events fun is included and the following will be present at the event: \n\nChip timing\nLimited free car parking 5-10 min walk away\nWater stations along the course\nRoute fully marshalled and signposted\nDistance markers\nBespoke race finishers medal for everyone\n5k & 10k & 10 mile & HM Trophies for 1st\, 2nd\, 3rd man & woman\nCertificates for all participants which are emailed out to you including age group placings\nDifferent certificates for Canicross have paw prints on them & details of your category\nFree post race massage from qualified sports therapists\nFree photos to download & share – from Marc Dewhurst\nFull medical provision\nIdeal for First-Timer to Elite\nRace Village with hot food and drink for sale\nBespoke hoodies and T-shirts for sale\n\nCHILD IS A PERSON WHO IS UNDER 15 YEARS OLD ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT

A beautiful trail run set in private areas of Sherwood Forest & the beautiful grounds of Thoresby Park; next to a Grade1 listed 19th Century country house in north Nottinghamshire; Thoresby Hall. \nRunning over old military roads\, cleared tracks through ancient woodland and grassed paths around the country estate. The route includes a few hills to offer a small challenge around the course in the most scenic countryside & forest. The elevation is noted on the downloadable course map. The course has very firm hard ground if dry but a few muddy areas to run through when wet. \nONLINE ENTRIES CLOSE EARLY 21/3 AS DATA NEEDS FINALISING & RACE NUMBERS WILL BE POSTED OUT – ON THE DAY ENTRIES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE \nRACE NUMBERS (with attached chips) WILL BE POSTED TO YOU \nPRE-ORDERED T-SHIRTS / MERCHANDISE TO COLLECT ON RACE DAY \nFINAL RACE EMAIL WITH LINK TO PARTICIPANT LISTS & WAVE TIMES will be sent by email & is available as a pdf document on this website page \nTHIS EVENT WILL BE ORGANISED FOLLOWING COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES \nPLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE EVENT IF YOU HAVE NEW COVID-19 SYMPTOMS: THESE MIGHT INCLUDE A HIGH TEMPERATURE\, NEW COUGH OR HAVE LOST TASTE/SMELL \nPlease read further below for detailed Covid-19 Safety Measures – \nCanicross entries & Nordic Walkers are very welcome. Please ensure you enter under the specific category you wish to be with. Separate cx start times to help avoid congestion and over taking. \n10k – Due to the number of 10k runners we have introduced a wave of runners at 11am & 2pm. Please book into the correct wave. \nThe Ultra’s will have an 8hr limit to complete the course & marathon a 7hr time limit. After that\, you will not be permitted to continue another lap & we send an end runner round the course to ask marshals to stand down & to ensure last particpant returns safely. You will be able to leave kit bags under cover of a gazebo at race village so you can grab food\, change of shoes\, socks & any other kit you need every time you pass by (every lap). \n5k 2021 update – Since March 2020 the small private village of Perlesthorpe closed itself off to the public & they have not re-opened & so we are not allowed to access these areas. This means that we have designed a new 2-lap 5k route taking you through a rare treasure; The Walled Garden & past some familiar scenic paths near Perlesthorpe Church. Marshals will guide you on the course. Please do not try to access the course before race day as it includes private areas of Thoresby Park. \nFree parking is located off Netherfield Lane & marked with our signs. There will be hot food from Good Spuds & homemade cake & coffee from Sunshine Van. \nCovid-19 Safety Measures \nWe are currently planning the additional measures required. Your safety & enjoyment of the day is our priority. This guidance will be updated regularly & emailed to all participants before race day. \nPLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE EVENT IF YOU HAVE NEW SYMPTOMS: THESE MIGHT INCLUDE A HIGH TEMPERATURE\, NEW COUGH OR HAVE LOST TASTE/SMELL \nRace Village will be expanded so that people gather with more space between runners. There will be separate start times for each distance. You will be encouraged to run the course with fastest runners going first to avoid mass overtaking – this is usual practice at our events. Runners will leave the start line in small waves all 2m apart to spread out runners but you can still run with friends (socially distanced – just don’t hold hands!!) \nTHERE WILL BE HAND SANITISER STATIONS AVAILABLE ALL AROUND RACE VILLAGE & AT WATER STATIONS. PLEASE USE THEM AS YOU ENTER THE VENUE FROM THE CAR PARK & AGAIN AS YOU LEAVE. PLEASE USE THEM BEFORE & AFTER USING TOILETS. PLEASE USE THEM BEFORE & AFTER COLLECTION OF YOUR MERCHANDISE / T-SHIRTS ETC. \nAll race numbers will be posted out to you 7-10days before the race so there will not be a need for registration. T-shirts / buffs & merchandise will be collected on race day at the event. \nOur charity bag drop will not be available in 2021. The car park is 350-500m from Race Village. Please be prepared to tie a race skin / hoody around your waist if necessary & to carry your own water. \nThere will be no trophy presentation after the races & trophies may be replaced by High St vouchers or discount codes which can be emailed out POST race. \nThere will be additional safety measures to maintain 2m distance wherever possible & we’d like participants to be patient & respectful of each other in carpark & at race village to keep everyone safe & work to government guidelines. More details of these will be outlined & emailed to all participants nearer the event date. \nUnfortunately\, we cannot offer pacers on this event as this would encourage larger groups of runners. \nWe are very sorry but due to COVID-19 restrictions we cannot offer sports massage at this event in 2021. This service will be back in 2022! \nWater stations will be on course for this event. Sadly we can’t allow individuals to fill their own re-useable water cups as we prefer. Marshals (in full PPE) will fill water into compostable cups & leave them on tables for you to collect. Marshals cannot hand out water directly to participants. Please dispose of the cups into giant waste bags nearby & 200m further up the course. HOWEVER WE STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO BRING YOUR OWN WATER / GELS / SNACKS TO THIS EVENT. \nProfessional cleaners will be employed to spray toilets & wipe handles between each use at Race Village.
